Healthy eating tip 1: Try to moderate your sugar intake

Ingesting too much sugar in your body has been linked to health problems such as diabetes, depression and also weight problems. It also causes energy spikes. Reducing the amount of processed sugar in your diet is the best choice you can make. Avoid too processed sugar because most healthy foods contain natural sugar.  Remember to be moderate in your sugar consumption.
Tips for cutting down on sugar
  • Gradually cut down the sugar intake in your diet bit by bit one day at a time. This gives your taste buds some time adjust. Once you’ve adjusted you’ll realise that when you try to increase your sugar intake, your taste buds will become too sensitive to high amount of sugar intake so automatically you’ll want to avoid sugary stuff.

  • Avoid or dilute drinks that have too much sugar. If you taste a drink and feel that it’s too sweet you can either avoid it or dilute with water just until it’s suitable enough for you to safely drink. Or you can just replace it with naturally blending drinks like a tall glass fresh fruit juice.

  • Don’t replace saturated fat with sugar. Many of us make the mistake of replacing healthy sources of saturated fat, such as whole milk dairy, with refined carbs or sugary foods, thinking we’re making a healthier choice. Low-fat doesn’t necessarily mean healthy, especially when the fat has been replaced by added sugar to make up for loss of taste.
  • Avoid processed or packaged foods since they contain preservatives with high chemical contents. Some manufactures won’t let the public know about this for the sake of maintaining profits but it’s up to you to be cautious. Luckily most products pass through the standardization authority for health inspection but even so some crooks have found a way to trick the system.
  • Eat healthier snacks. Such as fruits, peanuts, peppers, there’s so much to choose from you can never run out of options. Go with what tastes good and if you like it eat it.
